These Suricates at Mata Mata were such good value and better posers than a well trained Paris ramp Model..This chap was really enjoying the final warm rays of a fast setting sun..This one really needs a click

This particular morning we were about to Pack up at Rooiputs for 11 days at Mata Mata and I pleaded with Jane to let me go once more at sunrise to the waterhole down below camp for 45 mins ..I was about to turn back after my promised 45 mins was up when the roaring started ..coming from up the hill right in camp. ..'Better go and see if all was well with my Lady Love alone in camp armed with a water Pistol !!' I had got just past empty Campsite 2 we were in 3 = 400 metres further on when I picked her up roaring again coming away from our site ..I took a few shots ..this was one of them of the old lady of the lower Nossob River bed and then proceeded to our camp over the spoor of this brute lady lion not knowing what awaited me in camp. Jane came out of the tent with a big smile ..She had survived the first roar 30 metres from where she was standing at the tent ..The lion was behind the tent and my young lass wasn't sure how many were there ..Needless to say she slipped into the tent door right behind her and zipped up ..The roars got further away from then on ..like she always says .."What doesn't kill you makes you strong'
