A VERY Dry Rooiputs trip with Two Major Thunder storms

Post by Peter Betts »

Well we got back last night to experience an electrical Light switch for the first time in 2 weeks as well as a hot shower out of a Geyser at the turn of a tap and I watched TV News ..It hadnt rained since we were last there in April 2018 but on our last 2 nights at Rooiputs we had to hang onto our tent poles lying on the ground sheet to get low to MINIMISE the chance of being struck by lightening as the Lightening raged and the thunder clapped overhead as the hail and HARD rain landed 2 nights running ..We survived !!!..Our camp site at No 3 ..where we were joined for a week by very good JHB Bush friends who bought years ago my Brakah Trailer now 30 years old ..under the tree on the left

The Dry conditions do expose the red sand dunes more and I like that for taking pics

Sounds creepy and not nice to stand holding your tent with thunder and lightning around
