Nan, I'm sure if we ask nicely, we can wait for your entry. 0/0

OK, with just a day to go, I'll lighten the mood and post some clues for those that need them. -O

No.1 Looks like Batman's sidekick scrub's up nicely, especially in the red sands.

No.2 Two-armed cus.

No.3 My Latin name starts with Mel.

No.4 An Aussie fool perhaps?

No.5 I'm a minor Roman butcher.

Bonus.

"What you lookin at?"

Quiz No. 7 - Solutions

1. Image Kalahari Scrub Robin

2. Image Juvenile Lanner Falcon

3. Image Gabar Goshawk

4. Image Fork-Tailed Drongo

5. Image Lesser Grey Shrike

The extra:
What's the explanation behind the fact that hornbills are drawn
to all sorts of things where they can see their reflection?

Image

-> They see the reflections as an intruder and 'attack' them. That's why we can
observe them picking at their own reflection.

Okay, I'm not as good as Dewi in explaining the differences that might have
you thrown off track. But I'll try.

No. 2
Some of you confused the juvenile lanner with an Eurasian hobby and from my observation
it would be the marking on the breast / underbelly that makes the difference in the posture
my lanner is shown.

No. 3
The gabar goshawk was actually meant to be the only 'meanie' you would have to work for
a bit more. It's a bird in transition between juvenile and adult which on top seems to be
in mould. (Dewi, correct me if I got the explanation wrong).

No. 4
The fork-tailed drongo misses the distinctive tail. Judging by the feather sticking out
around the neck it could be in mould as well. What you weren't able to see was its behaviour
which was very adult-like (in terms of catching insects). That's why I think it's in mould.

No. 1 and 5 didn't pose much of a problem for most of you, as did the bonus question.

As for statistics: We had 7 participants and only one got everything correct the first time around.

Congrats, Dewi - you take it away again! ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^
