Re: If it's Tuesday it must be Bali
Thursday contd.....
The trouble is, I don't have a lot more pics, but I'll tell the story anyway.
A few of us had arranged to meet at the reception area at 18:00 so that we could organise a minibus and head into town or up the coast to find a restaurant for some dinner. No dressing up in Bali, so clothed in a Timbi T-shirt, shorts and slops I wandered up to the foyer. Did I mention this place is huge and I have left strong instructions with our conference people that next time they had better organize a golf cart for me.
Whilst waiting for the others, I thought these various flower arrangements looked very attractive and took one or two pics, especially for you ladies.
Finaly the gang arrived and seven of us piled into the minibus setting off for who knows where. The great people at the hotel had made the booking for us and given instructions to the driver
Talk about traffic chaos, cars, minibuses and literally thousand of motorbikes and scooters, squeezing between the vehicles. These guys spend more time looking in their rearview mirrors that ahead. It is absolutely amazing how courteous they are with each other and not one bump, I cannot believe it. Near misses are the norm, but nobody gets hit.
We finally got to our destination a little way up the east coast, a great looking restaurant right on the beach called Ku De Ta (spelled something like that ). Here's a link to their website http://www.kudeta.net/ I'm sure the likes of RP and BC will enjoy the photo gallery on the site, especially the bikini party.
The service was excellent and food even better. nobody had a starter or dessert and I had two beers whilst everyone else only had one drink. The bill R4500 it was a great experience, but a little over priced in my book.
This seems to be the place most of the westerners hang out at and it looked like the place was going to turn into one big party. We didn't hang around to find out and climbed back aboard our bus to find a cooler box loaded with beers from the hotel for the return journey. Very thoughtful and much appreciated.
Nothing more to add to this day except for a few Irish coffees before retiring back at the hotel.

indeed superb décorations...
R4500
we can eat for less than Euro 10.-- at some very good restaurants (small restaurants) not only for rich people
when I was there, I ate 3 meals a day for CHF 10.-- (about euro 8.--)

The food has a very french type of flair, but you can see quite a bit of Aussie influence. The beef is all from Oz.
Ja, a lot of money for a one course meal Amoli, but very tasty and the setting was superb. Also lots of great eye candy around

R4500 is very pricey, but I'm sure you're paying for 'location, location, location'.
