Today another Rhino was murdered and the official figure is now 489

Sad part is that is actually already past 500.

Here is a message from Allison Thomson from OSCAP:

My "unofficial" stats for the moment are 506. The DEA stats were in my mind not correct. I have reports of additional carcasses found (old carcasses) that have not been included in last weeks stats. There are an additional 8 that need to be in the KNP stats for last week. There is also a discrepancy of the 2 in the EC and the arrests do not tally up either. We have the 1 lost in Atherstone today and then the ones that were lost over the weekend which amount to at least 9 in another area (not yet being named). There is a lot of activity in the Limpopo Province at the moment so Rhino owner in that province should be doubling up on security.

Sometimes it’s not until you don’t see what you want to see, that you truly open your eyes.

Ja...there was a good article in Beeld on Friday about a rhino owner who has collected enough evidence regarding the fact that as soon as a farmer registers his rhino or applies for a movement permit or whatever with the local Parks agency, his rhino get poached almost immediately!

It should appear soon.

This story was also on Afrikaans radio and the vet in no uncertain terms said, that there is a link between permit application and poaching .
