What's that bird?
Re: What's that bird?
Hey all you pros over here on the grown-up side If anyone can help us over on the kiddie corner side as to what are the distinguishing features between immature/juv PCGs (#5 in quiz) versus African Marsh Harrier and Steppe Buzzard we would SO thankful. I looked at them and think I better go to the higher ups in the organization. THANK YOU, WHOEVER YOU MAY BE

If you have a bit of patience (if Dewi does not proceed me I hope that he does I'll try to help you........anyhow I think that the ID of immature raptors is a bit advanced for the "chicks" ( I have not even looked at it )

Re: What's that bird?
African marsh harrier has yellow legs and they are shorter than those of the PCG. The posture is different; the PCG is more errect. The breast and above all the stomach and thigh patterns are different ( PCG has stripes)
you'd better wait for Dewi to tell you. I recognice a DCG and PCG when I see them, but I cannot exactly tell you why.....probably the legs and the posture -O -O

You'll learn them - sooner or later, I'm sure

Re: What's that bird?
Sorry, I'm late in posting the answers here.
Anyways. Heksie was the first one to reply with all ID's correct and got the bonus one as well. Well done Heksie. Your challenge next.
Everyone else did exceptionally well, getting them all correct at the first attempt or needing help with only one of them and getting it right on the second attempt.
The answers are.....
1. Cape Robin-chat
2. Capped Wheatear
3. White browed Robin-chat
4. Bearded scrub robin
5. Kalahari scrub robin
6. White browed scrub robin
Although I was looking for Supercilium as the answer to the bonus. Eyebrow was also correct and you all got there with this one. Brownie points all round.

Heksie was, indeed, a participant in the Jr. quiz last time around.
(Based on my answers to the Jr. quiz this time, can we start a Toddler quiz, or maybe even a Still Suckling quiz (when it comes to bird ID, I definitely suck ).
