The Steller sea lion (Eumetopias jubatus) also known as the northern sea lion and Steller's sea lion, is a near threatened species of sea lion in the northern Pacific. It is the sole member of the genus Eumetopias and the largest of the eared seals (Otariidae). Among pinnipeds, it is inferior in size only to the walrus and the two elephant seals. The species is named for the naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller, who first described them in 1741. The Steller sea lion has attracted considerable attention in recent decades due to significant, unexplained declines in their numbers over a large portion of their range in Alaska

Brilliant stuff, and thanks for the Steller's info, you two!

The puffin description reminds me a lot of SANParks, but this comment of mine is entirely out of place here!

That boat seems to have had quite some power!

Also hope the glaciers stay forever, but recent info worldwide suggests otherwise?

A few pics of these endangered animals in their natural habitat .

These “lions “ of the sea , basically do the same as their country cousins , mostly sleeping all day .

Now , watch this space .

A last backward view at another pinnacle rising out of the mist

And then , ready for the three hour trip back to Seward , but wait , there’s more ! ( Sounds like one of those never-ending adverts ) . Out of the mist appears , a fin – wow , a shark ! Here

Everyone crowd at the rails . Look there , where is it now . Oooh , look at that !

Wow , not in my wildest dreams . It’s an orca $O/\$

Just a brief glimpse , then he’s gone .....
