651. Long-billed Crombec Sylvietta rufescens

Identification
11 cm; sexes alike. Very short-tailed. Upperparts brownish grey to blueish, underparts tawny cinnamon. Pale eyebrow and dark line through eyes.
Juvenile: Like adult.

Identification
13 cm. Black and white bird with grey cap and back, grey upperparts; black and white wingbars; black eye-stripe and white eyebrow.
Male: Broad black chest-band.
Female: Rufous breast band and chestnut-coloured chinspot.
Juvenile: Similar to female but upperparts mottled buff.

711. African Pied Wagtail Motacilla aguimp

Identification
20 cm; sexes similar. Boldly pied plumage diagnostic. Tail longish, wagged up and down; upperparts and breastband black; eyebrow, neck patch, wingstripe, outer tail feathers and underparts white.
In breeding plumage, female’s back duller than pitch black of male. In non-breeding plumage, male’s back duller, contrasting with black head, and female's upperparts dark olive-grey.
Juvenile: Paler grey-brown version of adult, with whiter wings than both juv Cape and ad Mountain wagtails.
