Roy is collared - has he always been? Never noticed it on any other photos I saw of him before...

Might have had a bit of a scrap with his mate by the looks of the fresh wound in his face. O**

Yes Mel, I have a photo of him from back in 2009 when his mane was still growing and he had the collar on then. Nomad is also fitted with a collar. Thankfully they seem to have become friends again as they were spotted together again on Saturday \O

I also just had to post some pics of some of the ellies we saw last week. This first chap seemed very happy with his heavyweight entourage and took every opportunity to chase warthogs in the area =O: =O:

Later in the day we found a huge number of ellies near Rooidam. It was getting very windy by then so the dust added to the atmosphere

Thanks everyone for the positive comments O0 O0

I've been busy putting together more information on the lion population history in Addo, together with details on how best to ID the lions. It's not entirely finished yet - I'm still waiting on final confirmation on the IDs for Melvin & Gibson, but I thought you all might like a sneak peek.

You can download the document here (approx 2.5MB)

And here's a look at the updated family tree. Blue indicates lion from the Kgalagadi, whilst green were born in Addo:
