This to me seems odd, I get the idea of the protection zone, just don't get the permanent boom. Unless it is manned it is useless and if it is manned then why have a permanent one.
Sad part is its position, it is between Skukuza and the IPZ, ie an admission that staff are involved big time in the poaching.

Well , I read it that it will be closed ( and probably locked ) during after-hours , and will be managed by the rangers . No need to man it during after-hours .
Certainly it will ( should ) assist in control of vehicular traffic during after-hours

I read that Okie, however I do not believe an unmanned boom will be a deterrent. They will just break the lock or the boom to get through or even drive around the one, the other appears on the bridge.

Don't know if it's the IPZ...but something at least! Too many people driving around after dark, IMO.
