Hi Dewi,

Great start with the doggies and very interested in this new camp myself. ^Q^ ^Q^ ^Q^ You must have slept over at another place before reaching the camp. Did you take the Francistown Nata road or Serowe -Rakops to Maun.

During our first visit in Bots we stayed at Mogotlho's camp site. All the campsites are far apart about 800 meters away from each other. On the first night we heard lions roaring getting closer and closer to us. O-/ Later learned that Moremi is not fenced off like Kruger and wild life all over. Do they still have camp sites available and what is it like at Dijara. Suppose I must wait for the rest of your TT. \O

I forgot to mention that the dogs had 13 hungry little mouths to feed just a few hundred metres away. I guess you'll be wanting to see them in a bit?
Bring on the puppies already! O**

Thanks Nan, BJ & Puff Addy. X#X

Nan - Nikon Capture NX2. \O

BJ. Pack your bags, hitch the trailer, get PRWIN to drive & go there NOW! Google Dijara on the 4x4 forum and read there what they have to say about the place. You will not want to bother going anywhere else. Ask for campsite 11 or 12 for the dogs hunting, but they all are great. The dogs tend to hunt from first light until around 8am, then from around 17:30 to just after dark. \O

We stayed at Khama Rhino Sanctuary just North of Serowe before heading to Mbabane. We arrived at sunset and left at dawn, so no tales from there. It was a very long drive, especially after stopping in Maun to pick up a few bits and pieces. If we do it again, I'd look at stopping elsewhere for the night, either South of Maun or somewhere like Audi Camp and then head for Dijara. We were just a wee bit excited to get there. ;-)

I don't think that Mogotlho has camp sites anymore? You would have to check. We also had Lions around at Dijara. They come right into the campsites. Friends of J. camped there last November and had to spend the night in their car as two prides were fighting over territory on their site.

PA - Pup parade will be here soon. \O

Before we left Dijara, we had a scrumptuous lunch of prime fillet mignon & coldwater crayfish tails followed by crepe suzette. It was delicious. I took a photo so that RP could not accuse me of lying anymore.......

Image

We pottered down the road to the Wild Dog's den and spent some time watching their antics.

Some of the pups were milling around the den entrance, but most of the gang were asleep underground.

Image

One raced by and I just about caught him before he skidaddled down into the den.

Image

His siblings seemed very interested in some Elephant dung.

Meanwhile, guard-duty Dog was resting in the shade, but kept a close eye on nearby photographers in case they got out of line.

Image

Whilst the Alpha male trotted by to show who was boss.

So off we went, leaving the dogs to themselves. We were headed North into the delta for a couple of nights before coming back to Dijara.
