With the previous culling in the old days tuskers were exempted, 100p. No problem, as they were mostly separate from breeding herds, which are the main target.

Poachers will take a big one, I suppose, but the tusks are terribly heavy, and the demand is just for ivory to be worked into chopsticks, jewellery, seals, cubes and what not....so don't think it is a huge threat? ;-)

But who knows what may happen re. "special orders" from our Asian Colonial masters? -O-

Ja RP, the "old days" were somewhat different from today. What is stopping a crooked politician from ending a good mans career should he oppose culling a "big one" ? What would a good man do knowing he will say goodbye to a career he was building over many years ? Without stipulated culling exemtions, ethics are very much dependant on cercumstanses. That's why I believe a publicaly known rule for exempting "big" bulls is the only starting point in protecting thE SANPARKS un-named big bulls.

Sam Ferreira from the Kruger National Park Elephant Management team assured us

at a KNP Orientation course 2 weeks ago that there are currently no plans for any elephant culling in the Kruger
