Nice lions again, and badger! O/\ ^Q^

Ja, lions pathologically try to kill ANY other predator, even mongoose...it is instinct it seems? 0-

Dwarfies are difficult to photograph, so those are my favourites, and nice to sit still for a while, indeed!
Gladly the dwarfies are normally too curious and when you swtich the engine off they do appear again to check out what is going on O**

We even met more large herd of buffaloes out of which lots of them were taking a bath

and having a great time in the water or feeding.

Then the loop was already over and we could turn into the S50 to pay visits at all the Nshawu’s. Right at No. 1 a resident hippo could be seen who took over a mud puddle still left at the remains of that waterhole

Image

and along the way more buffaloes, zebras and a lone vulture crossed our path.

Image

The next waterhole was still operational and here the wildebeests had to stand in line to wait for their turn to quench their thirst

Image

Image

as the water could not be pumped that quickly as much as mouths wanted to drink. The wildebeest youngster were cute

and also the zebras were thirsty.

Image

Normally these waterholes are abandoned when we do visit them isn February with a couple of larger elephant bulls around but today all the animals in that area came to have a drink there.

Image

Image

At least for us it was interesting to see how it must be in winter when all the water in the veld got less and less but for sure prefer to see the park in February lush and green again.

As usual we always drive the detour to Mooiplaas waterhole where today an openbilled stork was searching for something to eat in the small pond along the road.

Image

Image

Also the short road from the waterhole to the tar road was favoured by lots of animals as we spotted tsessebes, buffaloes and zebras.

Image

Some of the buffaloes were very muddy

Image

and it was a large herd

Image

and then for sure it is always stunning when the rarer antelopes do come across – That area normally do not let us down when it comes to tsessebe sightings

Image

although these staring eyes can be a bit scary.

Image

to be continued....
