This post we will backtrack a bit as we were far too early to book into our accommodation on our first day, so we decided to enter at Matyolweni and drive through Addo and exit at the main gate.
Then head out to our accommodation at Avoca River Cabins.
Who wants to waste precious time when it can be spent with some animals.
The following are some of the animals we saw on our arrival and on our way through.
I am sure you will see far too many Ellies for everyones liking, but hey we are in Ellie world!
We saw all shapes and sizes, who cannot say they are just such magnificent creatures

and to crown it all super chilled and friendly in Addo!!
Our first animal was not an Ellie

but rather one who is noted for scratching in dung and rolling balls!
First up was this Denham's (Stanley) Bustard

Thanks to PJL and nan for the correct name
Next up Jackal Buzzard
Lovely group of Hartebeest
Was great to see some teenagers amongst them
Ellie Mon and cutie strutting their stuff
Nice congregation of this thirsty bunch at the waterhole
Zebra giving us a nice pose
Hadedah Ibis - shimmering in the sun
Inquisitive face of this lovely young Kudu
These two Ostriches enjoying the early morning feeding time
This ground snail left a wet track behind it as it moved along
These resident South African Shelducks at Hapoor dam
Not one Ellie to be seen – Wrong time of day!
The Kudu were in abundance in the Park and could be seen around every corner.
Just adore this face
While having sundowner and snacks on the deck on our first evening, we had this lovely sunset!
Stunning relaxing day in the Park - who could wish for anything more - Just a perfect end to the day *sigh*!
