What's the deal with those matresses covered in black plastic? Do you sleep on them like that?

Anybody been sleeping over at Sable lately? O:V
We have a sleepover end of May, yay and I have a couple of Qs.
Will we be allowed to pick up the key when we arrive at Phala gate after traveling up from Pretoria
and then enter the hide gate at 5 or do we have to hang around Phalaborwa gate, until how late, to pick up the key?
Also is the key deposit still R100. And if we dont have anything like bedding or light or grid to return, do we HAVE to return the key? Can't we donate the deposit and hide the key somewhere for staff to pick up when they come to clean? Why I'm asking is, we have a long drive the next day and would like to head out south rather than back track to return the keys.
Thanks. 0/*

From Phala Gate:

Good day

Thank you for taking time to write to us, please see my comments in below!

Hello, Patrick!

Some questions from a member of Africa Wild:

Will we be allowed to pick up the key when we arrive at Phala gate after traveling up from Pretoria

You will collect the key for the hide at Phalaborwa Gate reception.

and then enter the hide gate at 5 or do we have to hang around Phalaborwa gate, until how late, to pick up the key?

Keys can be collected anytime upon check- in but you can only occupy the hide any time after 17H30, it is regarded as a day visitor area during the day and becomes an overnight facility at night.

Also is the key deposit still R100. And if we dont have anything like bedding or light or grid to return, do we HAVE to return the key?

If you are not going to need bedding, we can arrange as to where to drop the key before you leave,

Can't we donate the deposit and hide the key somewhere for staff to pick up when they come to clean? Why I'm asking is, we have a long drive the next day and would like to head out south rather than back track to return the keys.

That can be arranged with reception when you arrive, Sable Hide is just 10km away from Phalaborwa Gate.
