Re: Bush Traditions
It is not?
God put me on earth to accomplish a certain amount of things. Right now I'm so far behind that I'll never die.

Re: Bush Traditions
nearly each time 3 nights (in the small camps always if it's possible)
open windows... it's an obligation
music... only if I'm away from home a long time
never the first or the last at the gate... only when I'm ready, often 15 min later and 1-2 hours before gates open/close
no siesta... lost of time... picnic en route, on the road, by a pond, everywhere there is something to see, heard
I can stay hours at the same place, to see, hear...
I use picnic spot only for toilet
prepare fire, need a certain time, but better now, in the same time put the pictures on my latop, then braai
bed early... so tired, or sunset drive (often to avoid Baboons and Vervets)
but no Monkey in Kgalagadi... nothing to avoid... only my fears of the dark

Re: Bush Traditions
having entered through the gate i open all the widows as aircon is not permitted.
switch off the phone.
stop at the first big tree and assemble my cameras and lenses and put them on the passenger seat.
hang my bird book and binos over the passenger seat head rest.
take out my scatalogue and tree book and put them between the seats
take out the cashews and put them in one of the cup holders.
take out the billies and the leatherman and put that all in the other cup holder..
take my leg off and put it on the back seat.
take a deep breath of kruger air and
off i go !!!!!!
the future is not what it used to be

Taking your leg off
Can you imagine what impact the thought of it might have on someone
who doesn't know about you and your leg...

yip....... one of the first things i do in the park
is get "legless"
just like many of the botha's bakgat bakkie brigade from south of the "boerewors curtain"
who also get shirtless as soon as they drive into the park......
the future is not what it used to be
