Some interesting differences here, for example, when it is getting dark!



The second one is with flash each time, notice at the end it becomes a bit useless when the subject is with plants?

Why use the flash during the day, if not inside or in a dark spot

In this case it was very dark indeed - the camera I have has a 50mm lens, so picks up a lot of light. But one loses detail, obviously!

Looks dark all right, but isn't it better to play with the shutter speed instead of the flash

Using a flash during the day can be quite effective if you are shooting something against a very light background.

Fill flash is a photographic technique used to brighten deep shadow areas, typically outdoors on sunny days, though the technique is useful any time the background is significantly brighter than the subject of the photograph, particularly in backlit subjects. To use fill flash, the aperture and shutter speed are adjusted to correctly expose the background, and the flash is fired to lighten the foreground.

Use a Graduated Neutral Density Filter ..here about a 3 stop Soft gradation to hold back the sky and balance the forground in that dark forground shot with bright sky ..I never take a flash out with me on a drive as it may be temptation to shoot a leopard and damage its retina..I am waiting to get the Pro kit of the NISI range ..check www.landscapegear.co.za
