Erfplaas Waterhole
East of the Masorini Archeological site, about 12kms from the Phalaborwa gate.
Surrounded by massive boulders, it is a beautiful area where buffalo, elephant and lions are frequently seen.
Be on the lookout for Klipspringer on the boulders in the area.

EcoTraining Centre
At the end of a private road off the H1-9 about 12kms fromm Pafuri Gate. EcoTraining’s Kruger National Park camp is situated in the Makuleke Concession, between the Limpopo and Luvuvhu Rivers. This is a true wilderness area, steeped in history and situated in the remotest part of Kruger, in one of its most biologically diverse areas.

Fairfield Waterhole
The Fairfield waterhole is located on the S145, close to the Talamati Tented Camp. This is a hotspot for game viewing, with giraffe, kudu and sometimes rhino and buffalo herds coming for a drink.
A variety of storks are seen here...Saddle billed, Woolly necked and Open billed storks.

Re: The ABC of Kruger
Fayi Loop and Stream
Also known as the S14, this road loops around Pretoriuskop Camp. The Shangaan word “Fayi” refers to a type of grass that grows in the KNP.
In 1886 a hunting party led by veteran hunter Gert Stols was camping near Fayi Creek, when they were attacked by two lions. Several oxen were killed before the lions were driven off into the night. Stols set up an ambush the next day using one of the dead animals as a lure. The lions walked into his trap and he shot one dead and wounded the other. The hunters pursued the wounded cat into the Fayi Creek gully where they in turn were ambushed.
The injured lion leapt out of the thick grass, savaging one of the hunters before turning on Stols. Stols shot it dead. Ironically he survived the lion encounter only to die that night of a heart attack. He was buried near what is today known as Stolsnek.
