Very lucky with the cuckoo, Pumbaa!
And more warthogs in spa!
Interesting the two lappets on the ground there!
It does look hot!

Wow, what a variety of birds
Even two different cuckoos
A lot of mud-loving piggies

We were so happy about the african cuckoo sighting and we even saw another one later during the tripPeter Betts wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:03 am Lovely Pics Pumbaa especially the African Cuckoo..hard to see let alone photograph ..Your White Headed Vultures are in fact Lappet Faced ..also a great pic

We in fact had so much fun in watching them

I was in fact hot and I guess the lappet faced vultures simply rested close to the water

We simply love the Variety of birds we normally see in February

We saw indeed quite a lot of different cuckoos during that trip - It was a wet summer indeed

and one of the grey herons just caught a fish.

Thereafter due to the lack of sightings we allowed us another visit at Ntandanyathi where today a grey heron,

red dragonflies,

a goliath heron was gazing into the distance

and also a cattle egret hung around there.

Also in the hide itself it was quiet and we most of the time had the hide all to ourselves therefore and because of the presence of all the different birds we stayed a bit longer than planned

and when we were about to leave the malachite kingfisher

and a woodland kingfisher appeared on the scene as well.

Re: From Floods and Surprises in River beds
During the rest of our drive along the S28 we then only stopped for an elephant bull

until we then were stopped by a couple of cars which were parked on the side of the road nearly at the end of the S28 and at first sight we only saw a hyena, a jackal who stole something which looked like remains of a kill, a couple of vultures and finally also two lions.

Exactly at that spot the bushes were extreme dense and the view onto the lions was more or less miserable

but we finally got hold of a place where we at least had a first class view onto one of the lions

and same was also quite active despite the heat

and we had to exercise patience when same flopped down as the second one also was took a nap.

Gladly the sun stood already low and so we parked in the shade of the trees and bushes

so the heat was meanwhile bearable as also a light breeze started to blow

and so we were standing with many other cars on the road side waiting for some activity or movement

to be continued......
