Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Thanks all...
Right, time for a few pics from this week.
Last Sunday, after I posted my pics, the Balule air ops were busy again. This one taken from my stoep...
On Wednesday morning I went outside with my coffee and found this guy right next to the house...
Before I left for my drive this morning, this chap was on the lawn. I'm not sure, but think it's a Little Sparrow-hawk???
I hope that the inland rains in the Olifants catchment area come soon, as the river is really starting to run low...
More coming...

Fork-tailed Drongo...
Guinea Fowl...
I stopped next to a very dusty termite mound and found about another seven Warthogs exiting the hole in a cloud of dust...
These two Dwarf Mongoose were not impressed by the Warthogs behavior...
Until next time, from the banks of a drying Olifants River...

The raptor could also be a juv. Gabar Goshawk.
What is the helicopter doing, blowing up sand?
The dwarf mongooses are very curious and cute

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Pics from this past week...
On Monday afternoon on my way home from work, there were hundreds of Vultures in the trees close to the house. I stopped at home and grabbed my camera to see if I could get some action. I found a Giraffe carcass, but couldn't see the Lions. They must have been in the area, as all the Vultures stayed up in the trees. The carcass was also not in a good area for photos. Here are a few birds waiting for a gap...
The next morning, my plan was to take another look before heading to work. Before I left, I had to get a pic of my resident Bushbuck, this time she had brought her little one out in the open for the first time...
At the kill, still no Lions to be seen. Lots of Vultures still in the area and two Hyena snooping around as well...
More in a short while...

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Not much to bee seen on my Friday afternoon relaxing moment at the river, apart from the scenery...
This morning when I left for my morning drive, there was a herd of Impala on the lawn...
Not too often seen here, Ground Hornbill, but they are being seen more and more...
Lastly, a Jackal getting out of the wind after apparently, unsuccessfully trying to hunt the Ground Hornbill...
That's it for this week. Until next time, from the banks of the Olifants...

You should always have the camera with you, but I understand why you don't
