Yes, the morning light makes the colours so vivid and bright

We too and when is productive we even stay longer and skip a long drive

Finally we had that magic light either in the morning or in the evening

There are also in other parts of the park in summer open areas where the view is a bit better but we somehow never had luck in spotting anything there

This light is always the best but also means that normally the day is getting hot

Everything looks completely different when the sky is darker or even it is raining compared to that sunny shots

Normally that area it completely quiet when we so far drove that road but today it was completely different and we even spotted more elephants
and in the background on the right side you may get an impression how many of them we saw as nearly behind each bush at least one elephant was hiding
but we also discovered giraffes.
A nice stop on that road is always at Grootvlei and as if we had not seen any elephants yesterday evening at Mooiplaas and that morning along the S50 all remaining Kruger elephants were hanging around Grootvlei.

Re: From Floods and Surprises in River beds
First we decided to park on the dam wall and enjoyed the view with lots of fallen trees
and the spectacle of the bathing elephants from there but before we could concentrate completely onto the elephants a grey heron had to be captured.
When we arrived we were the only car at that dam and we enjoyed simply everything
it was a come and go elephantwise

Re: From Floods and Surprises in River beds
lots of breeding herds were around as well as lone bulls and all enjoyed to play submarine.
Sorry about the number of shots
but as always it was so difficult to choose my favourites.

Large herds could be seen
quenching their thirst
followed by the obligatory bathing time.

A lot were testing their skills who is the dominant one
and many more came running to join the party
or to take a collective bath.

Meanwhile we decided to leave the dam wall and drove to the area where you can park the car to get closer to the edge of the dam
also from here the view was excellent and the elephants had enough space and were not been disturbed by us.
