The trip over the lower dune road was uneventful.
This is the view from the lookout at Kij Gamies
After a quick stop at Auchterlonie, we pointed the bakkie north and set off towards Kamqua in search of leopards and / or cheetah.
There are some caves in the calcrete ridges on the eastern su=ide of the riverbed near Batulama, and it was there that we came across a significant traffic jam.
The reason, Miera’s two cubs.
As hard as we looked we could not see anything. We could see a springbok carcass in one of the caves, but nothing else.
Asking around, we were not the only ones looking for spooks!!
We soon became tired of the traffic and the empty ridges so we carried on north
Near Montrose a Cape fox was obviously playing truant and was still out and about long after his bedtime.
We weren’t complaining
But eventually even he decided that it was time to go underground

We encountered a lion road block at Rooibrak.
Two sleepy ladies and a male
Who made his way over to the waterhole for a mid morning drink
At Batualama, about 200m before the traffic jam for Miera’s cubs, I noticed some movement on the right hand side of the road.

Those Rooibrak lions are something else... They've been sleeping in the road for more than a year now.
Well, not all of the time but again and again They seem to like the attention they get by that.
That Cape fox probably had a good reason not to be back in the den, judging by her teats

Thanks everyone for all the comments and for following my travel tale
A Cape cobra was trying it’s luck in getting a midday snack in the form of a ground squirrel, but mommy was having nothing of it
We were really amazed at the brazen courage of the squirrel as she chased the cobra away
Once the cobra had been chased away, we joined the traffic jam

And managed to see one of the cubs feeding on the springbok
The animals also practising social distancing had begun
We stopped briefly at Samevloeiing before returning to camp for the day, to start packing for our move to Mata Mata the next day
