Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Thanks again for all the comments.
Last Monday I managed to get another shot of a Woodlands, but they are all gone now.
Praying couldn't save this Mantis...
Yesterday there were lots of these insects flying around and enjoying the flowers. Final approach for the yellow flowers...
I had just left the house this morning on my drive, when I came across this Elephant...
A while later, this Steenbok stood dead still, thinking that I had not noticed him...
More on the way...

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
The early morning light worked well on this Jackal...
Red-billed Hornbill in the road with a small snack...
A lonely Impala ram, they will soon be going into rutting season, then all the fun starts...
There are also hundreds of Orb Web Spiders all over the place. This one seems very successful with her stash of food...
Another batch coming up...

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
Last ones for this week.
Once again this year, there are almost no Mopani worms. I was lucky to see this one in the road...
One of the late departing European Rollers, most have them have left already...
Down at the river, this Waterbuck bull watched me as I got out of the car...
A few seconds later it turned into Husain Waterbolt...
Until next time, take care and keep safe if you are traveling over the long weekend...

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
At a first quick glance, I thought that the Woodie was eating salad
Is it possible that the locals are harvesting too many Mopani worms, or are they not allowed in the reserve? Two years in a row is rather strange Too much rain
Lovely pics of the waterbuck
The Orb spider is going to have a nice braai tonight; everything already placed in line on the skewer

Nice selection, Sharky!
The grass is getting paler already!
I like the kingfisher too.

Re: Grietjie Private Reserve
I once again marvel at your fortune to be able to live in a place like Grietjie Looking through the last few pages it feels like it must be an adventure every day with all the animals around and the great sightings you seem to have all the time. And of course, your photos are quality as always.
Funny to think that certain birds start leaving or have already left even though it doesn't even get cold-cold in your neck of the woods. And then they arrive here when temps are still way below 0, as our regular stork couples a few weeks ago. (The black even turned grey from the frost )
Thanks for sharing, Sprocky
