Syrphids are only predators as larvae.
Your fly is a predator as larva and adult.
Think of an adjective to describe the fly referring to the legs!

Helpful Hint: Our AW Invertebrate Book for Flies starts with the index. There you will find the various Families listed with the Common Name description in (parenthesis)….it shouldn’t take long to find the appropriate Family.
