Crooks Corner :
Yesterday when visiting crooks corner viewpoint, we noticed 4 males walking in the riverbed from the Zimbabwe side in the direction of the crooks corner viewpoint.
After watching them make their way across the riverbed, they eventually were right in front of the view point, with the crocodiles in front of us scurrying back into the water as they approached.
They started posing for photos to the west of the viewpoint, where just out of our sight there were some hippos we could hear.
At this point, the men being so close to the viewpoint we noticed a few of the other cars around us suddenly getting in their cars and leaving. After having a look through my own camera we realised why - one of the males was carrying an AK-47.
By now we were the only vehicle left at the viewpoint, so we slowly got back in our vehicle and watched as they made their way first across the front of the viewpoint right in front of us before turning back north and making their way back towards the Zimbabwean border.
Just thought this was interesting and definitely an usual sighting for us. At the end of the day everything was ok. Nothing was reported as we figured realistically what could Sanparks / Saps officials do unless the men actually crossed the river into South Africa
