That's what I thought, but it looks a bit wobbly ;-)

We returned on the last day of September for our final 2022 trip...but all did not go according to plan...

Anyway, we took the Croc River Estates road, this is a picturesque old highway that goes parallel with the N4, we were looking to miss roadworks! It comes out just before the Mara turnoff, and the Lowveld's rich Old Money Families live here... 0/*

And soon a fire was on the go! \O X#X

q1.jpg

Perchance Mireille phoned:

Triiing triiing...

RP: "Heloooooo! <dop>"

Mi: "Hellooo! Where are you? Is there quiz on Monday?"

RP: "No...we are in Marloth!"

Mi: "What??? You know it is 43 degrees there on Sunday?"

RP: "..........."

And so began The Great Anxiety...you may have gathered I am not a fan of the heat... O**

Anyway, a total first...I thought these mongooses were both terrestrial and diurnal, but apparently they climb around at night if there is free food?

q2.jpg

I did not sleep a wink that night...we were actually due to go to Kruger the Sunday, even worse! I made plans to leave the aircon on in the house all day while we were gone, but one can only try so far! O-/

43 degrees

43 degrees

43 degrees

Next day, the Saturday, was still nice, and we went for A Walk!

It is deathly dry at that time of year, before the rains.

q3.jpg
43 degrees, 43 degrees...

This presumable small cockroach of some kind? -O-

q4.jpg

43 degrees, 43 degrees...

It is always green at the river, and the Croc was not that empty, it had been a rainy 2022 earlier! \O

q5.jpg

43 degrees...

This permanently green thorn tree, wonder if it is a Green Thorn? lol -O-

q6.jpg

43 degrees... 0:

Something not often seen, a hadeda (Shy version)

q4.jpg

And only my second-ever amphibian there next to the pool!

q5.jpg

A special treat indeed that night, these Greater Bushbabies don't give a hoot if there are people or not, and make absolute pigs of themselves! 0*\

q6.jpg

Eyes reflecting!
q7.jpg

And next morning we dutifully went back to a merciful 39 degree Nelspruit! \O lol

END OF 2022 SEASON
