Dear Registered Interested and Affected Parties
You are receiving this email in response to a directive from the Dept. of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment's (DFFE) Chief Directorate of Integrated Environmental Authorisations dated 27 May 2024 - see attached to forwarded email from the same.
As you were registered as an Interested and Affected Party during the environmental assessment process for the development of the Kruger Shalati tourism facility at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park, it is required of me to inform you of the outcome of an application to the DFFE to amend the original environmental authorisation (copy of application attached). The reason for the application was firstly to notify the DFFE of a change of management and contact person at Kruger Shalati, and secondly to include an additional structure within the concession footprint that would serve as a boma for guest dining. As will be seen from the application for amendment, it was found that the proposed boma would have no adverse impacts on the receiving environment and that any potential impacts related to the construction process would be easily managed and of an insignificant magnitude.
The first application for amendment of the environmental authorisation regarding the boma was rejected by the DFFE due to there being insufficient information. This, however was not the case as all that was required was submitted and the application will be resubmitted once the window period for appeals has closed, i.e. within 21 calendar days from the date of issue of the Record of Decision, which is Monday 17 June 2024.
If you wish to appeal the decision please follow the guidance in the attached Record of Decision, and if you need to discuss any of the above with me, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Kind regards
Kevan

Food and wine lovers gathered in large numbers to attend the Food and Wine in the Wild Festival held at the renowned Kruger Station Restaurant in Skukuza Rest Camp on Friday 5 and Saturday July 6.
Attendees sampled wines from some of the most prestigious vineyards across South Africa. From the rolling hills of Stellenbosch to the sun-kissed valleys of the Cape Winelands, each sip told a story of passion, dedication and the unique terroir that define the region’s winemaking heritage.
Wineries in attendance included Rust en Vrede, AA Badenhorst Family Wines, Quoin Rock Wine Farm, Knorhoek Wine Farm, Arendsig Hand-crafted Wines, Dalla Cia Wines and Eikendal.
Some of the baked bread and scones that were exhibited at the festival.
Food enthusiasts were also dazzled by the vibrant flavours of traditional and local cuisine. From spicy peri-peri chicken to melt-in-your-mouth bobotie spring rolls, each bite was a testament to South Africa’s rich culinary landscape.
“The turnout was beyond our expectations as we had locals and people from outside the region coming to sample the food and wines.
We look forward to welcoming guests again next year. I would like to thank everyone who took their time to attend the festival. Without them, the festival would not have been a success,” said Gavin Ferreira, the general manager of the Kruger Station Restaurant.
An exclusive wine-pairing dinner was also held in the historic Carriage 7 at Kruger Station on the Friday evening to showcase the wines to festivalgoers.

Dear Registered Interested and Affected Parties
You may recall my previous email informing you of the intention of the Kruger Shalati operation at Skukuza in the Kruger National Park to submit an application for the amendment of their Environmental Authorisation based on their desire to develop a boma within their concession area.
As per the email from the Dept. of Forestry, Fisheries and Environment below and dated the same, this application has been approved and you now have a 20 day window within which to submit an appeal against this decision, if you so wish. The attached letter from the DFFE provides details as to how you can go about submitting an appeal, so please refer to the letter. Otherwise, you are welcome to contact me and I will guide you through the process.
Kind regards
Kevan
