There are not many alternative gates around there. You'd have to go up to Pafuri, if I don't error

Please avoid using R81 from Mooketsi to Punda gate, as the community unrest at Malamulele area is scheduled to continue tomorrow.
It is recommended that you make use of R524 from Makhado via Thohoyandou to Punda gate instead.
