This event is simply designed for nature lovers to experience the park in a different way, notwithstanding SANParks' core mandate of conserving nature and presenting responsible tourism activities. (Punctuation and grammar corrected)

SANParks' core mandate has changed, Mr Phillips! Speak to your boss...it is now about sustainable utilisation and community involvement. The concept of having well-off previously non-disadvantaged citizens on expensive bicycles using a National Park as their personal playground is a prime example of the "fortress conservation" mentality recently so virulently denigrated by the CEO. It is reminiscent of their "purist" and "old-school" attitude.

You are also implying that the first plan was therefore irresponsible...and is now responsible because it is on existing roads. Well, that is half true! \O

Has there been an outcry for nature lovers to experience KTP in a different way? :-?

It also has to be noted that the zoning in the current Park Management Plan for Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park has made provision for activities of this nature. The zonation along the riverbed is zoned for low to medium intensity motorized access. In addition to this properly controlled tourism activities, are permitted in the riverbed.

It also has to be noted that the zoning in the current Park Management Plan for Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park has been done entirely at the whim of SANParks, without consulting anybody else. So whoopee.... \O

It must therefore be clearly stated that there is nothing foreign with an activity of this type.

There you have it! What are so many people complaining about? SANParks have declared this not to be foreign. And that is therefore gospel! \O

Errr....so why not go back to the riverbed then? -O-

Just clearly state that that is also not foreign! ;-)

[O]

However as a caring organization, your views are respected.

Excuse me for not bursting into tears of gratitude. I help pay your salary...an impressive one, and don't give a damn if your organisation feels like caring for me or respecting me. I take it for granted!

Oh please, you must be joking! 0-

To read this is mind bogling, 'cause it is the new school complaining!!!

Perhaps some contractor, at expense, should tear down the fences
surrounding Sanparks headquarters, so the spritely young thinkers
can wander free too pension!!

As an organization, SANParks has a responsibility to attract various markets as enshrined in its vision statement ‘SANParks Connecting to Society’.
It is our belief that some of these activities will assist in the realization of connecting to various members of society, while also providing a different activity, marketing exposure and diversity for our client base amongst others.

You forgot "SANParks' core mandate of conserving nature" this time! 0*\

How many responsibilities and mandates are there!?

It is my belief that it should be your belief that ALL of these activities should assist...not just some!? O-/

But kudos on a magnificent example of non-committal, nebulous, confusing and deniable political spin in this extract! \O

In order to have a sustainable and responsible event, an Environmental Management Plan (EMP) on the new route is currently being compiled by an independent consultant and a more detailed report will follow as soon as it becomes available.

Excuse us if we don't hold our breaths...if a month is the standard time...well, it's holidays and Mangaung and what not by then...See you next year maybe? 0/*

It may not look like it, but I have not enjoyed replying to this rubbish at all, as the subject matter compels one to descend to that level of idiocy.

But so be it!
