Roodewal is on the banks of the Timbavati River on the S-39 gravel road 19km North of Timbavati Picnic Spot.
It consists of 4 twin-bedroom huts, one of which has three beds per bedroom, all with en-suite bathrooms with showers - thus accommodating a maximum of 18 persons.
It has to be booked as a whole.
Geysers, fridges, freezers, stoves etc. operate on gas, while a generator runs for part of the day, charging batteries for the lights!
There is no shop, wood, ice etc.
No cellphone reception.
Communal Braai area
Large communal dining room adjacent to braai area
Large kitchen, lavishly equipped, next to the above
The way from the braai area to the deck
The deck and its exquisite view!
Dining area in one of the huts
One of the huts!
A plaque!
(Tranquility is spelled wrong...but believe me...one doesn't care at all when one is there! )
These pics are two days old...and it took me 25 years to find my favourite camp!

Re: Roodewal Private Camp
This rather pointless pic shows the incredible trees that blanket the camp!

We'll book via one of the tour operators, not Central Reservations.Richprins wrote:Over R5 000 per night, MINIMUM!

Re: Roodewal Private Camp
Roodewal was one of the "first generation" new private camps, along with Boulders and Jock of the Bushveld. It is now almost thirty years old, and was refurbished a few years back.
Nwanedzi and Malelane were also private camps for a while, so only Roodewal and Boulders remain...interesting!
