Trip to Kruger NP 2019 New series of Stories

02 – Waking up Lion

Ready for story 2 ?

We were at Tshokwane for a coffee. First full day in Kruger and it felt so good te be back again. Leaving Tshokwane , going right or to H10 or… well, decision made and going left and left to the S34.

At once , fully unexpected 5 lion at the LH side , close to the road and probably just waking up. Stop and engine down… and watch. So nice to see the behavior of these great animals.

Presenting them:

And a few meters away from these two the other 3

The lady, standing up needed a private moment

And next ….. other personal care and expression

After this she decided to move on ….

The other ones looked at her and……

Standing up and follow the “leader”.

They were slowly moving on into the bush and the last one, still sleepy , gave us a look saying ”sorry…but have to go….”

See you next story

Thanks all for the comments and taking time to read and look.

03 – Birds

Not a real story about lion, leopard but showing some beautiful birds we have seen during our trip

First one is a Martial Eagle consuming a kill. Impressive birds and one of my favorites

This one (Brown Snake Eagle) was pretty and nicely posing with a lovely blue sky

Captured from one of the many bridges a Goliath Heron

-

-

Not shy at all, this African Fish Eagle was not flying away when we came closer and waited so I could capture this great bird from a short distance.

-

-

Close to Punda Maria camp , after the first rain since a long time this Bateleur Eagle was in the road and did not go away. I was able to make some nice close-ups and even when I moved on the bird did not go away. Funny and also wonderful to have look from very close by.

This male Kori Bustard was showing off , trying to seduce a lady , beautiful !

I could not resist to capture this couple Lilac Breasted Roller (I hope it’s the right name, still not a birder)

-

-

In the north (close to Boyela waterhole) we saw this Secretary bird. This time not running fast or flying away but giving a chance to make some pictures.

We have seen a lot of these Ground Hornbills but had to make a choice

Last but not least , I like to show this beautiful Giant Eagle Owl.
