Re: The Lions of the Kgalagadi (or not!) KTP May/June 2022
Sunday 29 May 2022
We woke early in anticipation of our first morning drive. We were surprised that it wasn’t as cold as we had expected.
Coffee was drunk while we waited for the gates to open at 7am
We left camp and set off up towards Kij Kij
On the way in the morning light, these gemsbok were showing off
As was this Kori Bustard

his Tawny eagle wasn't too impressed at having his photo taken ![Wink ;-)](./images/smilies/bwink4.gif)
whilst these finches were getting ready for the day
We got to Kij Kij and saw loads of lion spoor heading along up the dune road, but after about a kilometre we lost them. We carried on as far as the first waterhole, Tierkop, before turning around

Early mornings in the Kgalagadi are the best... The anticipation, the awakening of everthing, the light, the air... I could go on and on and on ![Mr Green :-0](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

We decided to carry on north towards Melkvlei and we were glad that we did
A cheetah with two sub adults were walking along the road just before Melkvlei
We watched them as they went,
They moved from one side of the road to the other
