Fresh Water Angling
Re: Fresh Water Angling
Sorry about the quality as most of my fishing pics are taken with a phone as I don't fish with a camera
Hawkeyes with a barbel and if you look carefully the rod tip in the background is starting to bend. I had to grab the rod 1 second after this pic to stop it from going in the dam. Hawkeyes ended up with 9 barbel that morning.
Hawkeyes with some of her carp (Supernova’s rats, Tortoise and Luckycharm also in the 1st pic)

Wow BC, you've taught your girls well!! My SO is still struggling to get the Brat interested in fishing! Do have a couple of pics though...will try to find them.
Re: Fresh Water Angling
The Cow also loves her dam fishing and has caught all species over the years, but in December at the Vaal Dam she caught her personal best carp.
Her legs were still shaking 10 minutes after landing the fish, but the teeth still hang out each time I mention the fish

There’s nothing better than fishing at first or last light.

I have got to fish a few “different" spots over the years, like fishing for barbel at Phinda twice.
The hippos were on the other side of the dam, but as the barbel came on the bite (in a few minutes) the hippo cruised across the dam and ganged up on me, hence the pic is taken from a distance as the Cow ran for cover, but I was on with a fish

Another interesting spot is Tala Game Reserve, which I have fished many times.
I have been chased by hippos and left the rod to run, ducked from rhino while in the reeds and had a sword fight with a steenbok

A few of my fish, barbel at Albert Falls Dam, carp at Shongweni Dam and bass at Midmar Dam
An interesting thing happened that day at Midmar Dam. Poachers were hunting with dogs in the reserve and we spotted them, so followed along the shoreline. In 5 minutes the dogs found a reedbuck, which evaded the dogs and bailed into the dam.
The darn dogs bailed in and followed, so we cut the dogs off with the boat and then helped the reedbuck across the bay.
The poachers stood on the shoreline and swore at us the entire time
We reported this but as per usual, no feedback
