Ebook Readers

I'm even more today than yesterday, as I never made it back to AW to respond...Life throws curveballs into the best laid plans....

Anyway, I got mine a couple years back, so am not up to date w/ what's available now AT ALL. I got the Kindle fourth generation (NOT the Touch or Fire), so mine's not a touch screen nor does it have color. It's a BASIC ebook simply for reading purposes and the ability to have lots of books while on vacation without the weight. It does have an on-screen keyboard rather than the external one, but I don't need to type anything, so that's not an issue.

I can download books via WiFi if I'm in an area it's available, or via USP cable at home. I'm perfectly happy doing it at home, as it's very fast and simple. (And I don't have to get out of my pajamas to go somewhere -O ) Obviously with such basic abilities, the cost is low, another good point if you only want to read books on it.

Probably not too helpful, but the basic version for my basic needs is perfect. I'm completely happy with it, but I'm not a "techie" type, so only you know your needs in that area. Enjoy yours!

We have been thinking of e-books since they arrived, but never got around to it, as the books to download are too expensive (we normally get our books at the library). This winter when we were away for 2 1/2 months hubby ran out of books and it was hell to keep him occupied -O -O and then of course as EXFM says, they weigh a lot and take up space. I have no problem because you can always get books in English, almost in any place on earth, not so easy with Italian

Our libraries have ebooks available as well, so you don't incur any costs with them. I did that once for a Costa Rica trip, and when the "due date" came, it simply disappeared from my Kindle. Pretty easy, but I don't know what other countries have available re: library ebooks. Maybe look into it, certainly worth a try.

I finally got myself the Kindle Paperwhite. Very happy with it after the first
encounter: Intuitive navigation and reading at night was easy on the eyes
as well.

Downside: You got to get yourself an extra plug to re-charge it via socket.
It only comes with a USB cable.

We've got an iPad and a Samsung Tablet, so it seems to make sense just to download an Ebook app...can anyone recommend one?

Got myself an iPad Air for christmas and now use it estensively. Never throught it could actually replace a laptop but we're very close to that.
I use it for reading books and have recently downloaded the full versions of Sasol plus Newmans Birds of South Africa.
Great little toy when you travel and very easy to use on all fronts.

I would like to try one... with one you recomend : Sasol or Newmans (you who have both)
I've got a Sasol book at home, and I'm now adapted... is the E-book a little bit the same ?
