In March we visited Nkuhlu hoping to get breakfast and found that the kitchen was closed for renovations.
In July we tried again and found that the kitchen was permanently closed!
Also on our July visit we found that the kitchen at Crocodile Bridge was permanently closed!
Afsaal's kitchen remains open but is now operated by SANParks.
I'm not sure of the status of Tshokwane, has this tea room been reopened since the floods?
Are SANParks systematically closing down all food outlets except for Wooden Banana?
Two out of three places that provided breakfasts that were good value for money have been closed down. We are now forced to go to a Wooden Banana and pay their rip-off prices or cook our own food.
From now I'll be taking the second option.

The second option is the only option at this stage. Wooden Banana as you said, is a rip-off!!!

It is confusing and unprofessional, regarding the picnic spots, IMO.
There was talk of tenders being reawarded etc., then the floods came, and came again..???

The new restaurant tender winners will be announced next week. There will be more than one operator. Have heard rumours of some being Mugg & Bean?
AFAIK Sanparks are running the picnic sites Afsaal and Nkuhlu now (mixed reports) - think Tshokwane remains the same as always and is currently open.

Tskokwane was a shocker when last we were there!!!!
Nothing left!!! Sanparks are losing it all together in this
sector!!! One cannot give them any credibility, regarding
entrepreneurship, here!! They simply totally botched on the
food and restaurateur front!!!
I add, that I find better service in the picnic spots,..
