Another really rare sighting seen is the banded mongoose. Also not on the list.
No pix from my side though as I wasn't the lucky one. 0*\

Crocidura hirta Lesser Red Musk Shrew
Cryptomys damarensis Damara Mole Rat
Mus minutoides Pygmy Mouse
Malacothrix typica Gerbil Mouse = Large eared Mouse
Desmodillus auricularis Cape Short-eared Gerbil

These two rats are very similar in appearance and occur over much of the same range, but have been shown to be genetically distinct. Any further info. is welcome.

So I think, we label the rat as Black-tailed Tree Rat (Acacia Rat) Thallomys paedulcus
