Day5:
We were in two minds to take the S1 again and go down the S65 to see if we would have luck with the cats and just as well we did, we spotted this group of 8 lions crossing the road. They were very accommodating as they stopped on the side of the road and licked the dew of the grass , waited for me to change the lens on the camera as the 150-500mm was not able to get them in being so close and then went down the side and lay around for a bit, we thought they were stalking a herd of Zebra up the way only to see them duck off into the bush where we got them in the background of a rhino sighting
We had heard of a hyena den close to the S11 so headed to that area , we found them just on the side of the road, at first I did notice the baby between her legs , the mother was a bit skittish and went into the den under the road. As we were sitting waiting for her to come out again a car pulled up and informed us that there was hyenas about 500m up the road we thought this was the sighting , so off we went to see if that would be a better sighting…
And then the second sighting…it was worth going to check
Day5 will continue:
Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do.
Sorry for the delay here peeps, work is not play nice
From the Hyenas we headed up towards Nkhulu for lunch via the S21 which was very quiet, we found a few vultures in a dead tree
White-backed Vulture
Hooded Vulture
After lunch we came across a herd of ellies heading down to the Sabie River, once across they joined up with another herd that was heading down for a drink too.
We were very happy to find the Blackie again, you can now see the injuries more clearly,
and he was once again in the open
And a hyena for the last sighting and he was kind enough to smile for the camera

Sorry all for this very long delay , have had a hectic 6 month with new and exciting things going on . I will get the TT completed asap for those interested.
The weather forecast for the next 2 days did not sound promising so we decided to do some sightseeing outside the park
we did Bourke's Luck potholes , Gods Window , Berlin Falls and Lisbon falls .
It would have been a good day in the park as the weather was sunshine and the second day was miserable so stayed at the lodge and got some bird photos when it was not raining .
Violet-backed Starling
Thick-billed Weaver
