I decided to go exploring. I did a short bit of the Coastal Dune Forest Trail and found a red duiker. O:V

This so called birder's paradise proved a bit of challenge for me! :O^ I did see a Wooly-necked Stork, and this African Pied Wagtail...

...and a lifer - a White-eared Barbet. This was the only pic I could get after chasing this bird around for about 20 minutes! 0*\

And that was it as far as the birds went! 0- As with most reserves, the vervets were a problem. :O^ This one managed to grab a bread roll that SO was using to put on his line.

Naughty but cute!! ;-)

Then, THIS appeared which wasn't so cute! Don't know if this is a genetic abnormality or if it was sick - it did have a large swelling on it's jaw. -O-

My BIL has seen this same vervet here before, so maybe it's healthy enough. -O- :-?

And that's it for our day trip to Umlalazi. 0/*

WoW red duiker and colourful fiddler crabs \O

Thanks Fluterby

Strange looking vervet :O^ Looks indeed like a genetic abnormality - Looks also a bit larger then the normal vervets?

Been here a few times O:V

Fishing in the river isn't very productive, but the sea is very productive.

It's the breeding grounds for diamond skates who arrive by the thousand from December to March.

How did the SO get the eel off =O: =O: =O: =O: O**

Weird looking vervet   I wonder what's going on there :-?

That vervet... it doesn't seem to have any hair :-? But the little one is cute indeed, especially in the shot where it is pensively chewing on its hand. :-)

\O for the red duiker!
