From Berg to bush in March 2015 part two – KZN*

14.03.2015 continued

In the afternoon we went on the Siyaya Dune Forest trail which started quite nice but turned out to be quite exhausting towards the end maybe because we walked it in the wrong direction?

we saw some red duiker running away, thorny rope



and another butterfly

on the way back the next lifer – yellow weaver



some flowers or fruits?

[Tina]

and then the palm-nut vulture actually made an appearance – unfortunately a bit far away and in very poor light

and finally some proteas

15.03.2015

this morning we had planned to visit dlinza forest and left for Eshowe just after the gates had opened.

on the way we saw a gorgeous sunrise



and a wooly-necked stork

We arrived shortly after 6 am but the gate was still closed. I called the number noted at the gate and was told that the boardwalk was closed on Sundays. Disappointed we wanted to return when the gardener showed up and told us that the lady working at reception only was late as there was an issue with her transport. 5 minutes later she showed up and we offered her a lift for the rest of the way which she gladly accepted.

Thus, at 6:45 am we could finally start on the boardwalk

we saw a nice forest but the only birds were hiding purple-crested turacos and a dove that far away that we could not even id it
