I can recommend a few camps up north, although not community run. The one is Palmwag (stop over more, but you can go on guided game drives), Kunene river lodge (most northern camp) and Epupa Falls (did not stay there and visited it from Kunene river lodge). Epupa camp looks great and the road not too tricky for a 4x4.

Near Otjiwarongo we stayed at Okonjima camp site (Africats foundation). Great for visiting the cheetah camps.

Hi BvJ - we always spend at least one night at Palmwag - we love it. This time we are also planning on visiting Okonjima on the way back to Windhoek and hope to have enough time to spend two nights there. Will have to see. No set itinerary, just going where and when! \O

0/* t 0/* Cannot believe such a long time has passed since I last posted here! And I said something about planning our last Nam trip! Well we planned a trip for September 2020, moved it all to April this year, and rearranged it again for September this year. Covid had intervened and threatened our "LAST" trip!! We went in April 2017 and went straight to Epupa Falls Lodge, sheer magic! To cut a long story short, we camped at the Ongongo Community camp for two nights, loved it, and helpful kind staff. The same at Spitzkoppe - so I think community camps CAN be great 👍 Here's to all you happy campers. Stay safe!
