Mozambique Traffic: Pafuri Border Post-Punda Gate

Leachy reports the S-60 sand road has been closed to the Mozambique shoppers/commuters/commercial vehicles that use this route daily, despite demands/rules that they must overnight and blah blah. Not sure how this is enforced, but there are signs, and they have to use the tar road intersection.

The S-60 is now a pleasure!

But, as expected, traffic still happens daily between Moz and Punda and Pafuri gates, and the Border Post there... :O^

Yes, saw that Sanparks replied there are permits or such for cross order taxi's etc so they don't have to overnight which then defeats purpose of this rule and basically just says we are doing this to make money out of holiday makers making use of this route as it doesn't tackle main traffic, just being selective. Dear Forumites;

The implementation of the Cross Border overnight rule is strictly enforced at all KNP entry gates; however SANParks does have an obligation towards our neighbouring communities hence the reason a MOU was signed between SANPark and CBRTA during 2014 where SANParks introduced regulated cross border road transport service facility to convey passengers and their personal belongings between South Africa and Mozambique through the Pafuri and Giriyondo Ports of Entry in the KNP, with a focus on communities living in Limpopo National Park and in the Pafuri area in Mozambique.

All accredited taxi operators are issued with a cross border travel permit by SANParks in line with our rules and regulations. Permits are valid for one (1) year and reviewed annually.

Should members of the public suspect any irregularities pertaining to illegal operators conducting road transport to and from Mozambique they are requested to report this to our law enforcement department to investigate.

Why does SANParks have an obligation towards Mozambiquan communities? 0-

There has been no improvement whatsoever, with the hordes of Moz vehicles continuing as normal.

Just a little reminder of what they are capable of, this from almost within sight of the Border Post, around noon:

A Moz vehicle had hit a mother and lamb, killing the mother quite quickly and carrying on in Punda direction.

The lamb was in shock and would obviously not make it:

Fortunately the ranger was still stationed at TEBA nearby then, so got some help:
