Good Day
Just saw your post, re your first visit to KTP and advice given, overnight great idea., but don't spend another night outside the park, even if you just make the gate, just get in. Take some warm clothes especially a hat that covers the ears.As a first time visit I would stay at TR and maybe Kalahari Tented, because while there are only two major roads, time seems to speed up in KTP
and before you know it, you have done all of 50kms and its taken 6 hours and you still have to get back to camp. Expect Kamieskroon, Namaqua etc to be busy, can be a bit like silly season in KNP sometimes. Karoo is the best SANpark in my opinion.
So whatever you decide ENJOY.

First Trip (possibly) to KTP
Hi all
Trish and I are considering a holiday in KTP in November 2017, bringing our daughter along with us. No doubt there are going to be a lot
of questions coming from us. One that has cropped up, and has an awful lot of bearing on whether we take the trip or not is...................
Do they have skottel hire at the Picnic Sites as per KNP??
Thanks for now
Mike and Trish

Hi , you just made me chuckle at the question asked, sorry
1st up there are no Skottels at the picnic area'a in KTP, but there are Braai's at all the tables, well most of the tables , that's when you can use them as there are normally a couple of locals around, when stopping there you must make sure you are alone before deciding to get out and check inside the toilet area's as well as the local's try to get in there for the water, have heard of some cases where a person has come face to face when opening the gate to the toilet only to find that a local has got there first
She had a good go at trying to get in through the gate
Staying too long at the picnic area can have it's problems as well
If there where skottels there would be more of the locals hanging around
