When there is no more coal, they just leave it like that. In the contract should be written, that the area must be returned to nature. Would be even better to stop open air coal mining permits.

I think that is what is meant to happen here but people are wondering how they will revert all this damage.

The damages which have already been done to people, flora and fauna cannot be undone. Only the scenery can be made better looking.

The mines have to have reconditioning deposits for refurbishing and replanting the area after they are done. But the Guptas ducked with those deposits regarding their coal mine, so important that gets recovered to set an example!

FB Update the minister is allowing this to go ahead :

Save our Imfolozi Wilderness: Our appeal against a 222 square km mining right (Area 4 and 5 on the map) is rejected by the Minister of Mineral Resources. The area that has been granted to mine is ON the border of our iMfolozi Hluhluwe Game Reserve
