Running, or rather flying, off is what birds always do when I point my camera at them. At least it feels like it
Good Mountain Zebra sightings to start with I find the oryx rather skittish and the blue crane too (see above )
Jackal might be common but getting a rather close and clear shot is a different story in this park, methinks.
Beautiful mountain zebra against the dam

Quite a few animals and birds were doing the running/flying away thing to me this timeMel wrote: Running, or rather flying, off is what birds always do when I point my camera at them. At least it feels like it

Agreed - the gemsbok are very skittish for some reason. We saw quite a few blue crane on this trip which was cool. We've never found many jackal before in MZNP, but strangely this time they popped up all over the place

The mountain zebras are very photogenic... they pose much more regally than their burchells counterparts

Re: We Won An MZNP Game Drive
As we continued around Ubejane loop the light became even more golden. We saw more of the regulars including springbok, another gemsbok, red hartebeest and ostrich
Right at the end of the loop we were treated to a great sighting of a black backed jackal. We hadn't seen so many of them in MZNP before, and certainly when we had they had always been very skittish. But this was one of many sightings this trip, and amazingly they didn't seem to run off too quickly this time
As the sun started sinking lower, our last sighting of the day was a big eland bull
Arriving at camp we settled into our chalet and wondered what the next day would bring
