Driving from Bateleur camp to Shingwedzi one day we saw a blur darting across the road in front of us. This was not far from the turn off to the river side drive on the approach to camp.
It was a leopard on the hunt. Stalking a small herd of impala.
She kept low in the long grass, sometimes disappearing from view as she inched closer.
She was superbly camouflaged with her surroundings.
And melted through the grass, slowly getting closer & closer to the unsuspecting antelope.
She put each paw down gingerly in turn, testing the ground for anything that would make a noise and give her presence away.
We last saw her as she went into deep cover.
A few minutes later we heard the alarm snort of impala and saw shapes bounding away through the thick bush.
