Ugh… I'm not sure I ever ever heard of Aardlam having to be put down... I had always believed her death had been due to her age…
Even worse for such an icon!

But the new boys are handsome enough. Although they might want to spread the gene pool even further than just between
the Karoo, Addo and Mountain Zebra -O-

We managed a day trip to Addo the other weekend which was nice, but rather on the quiet side in terms of sightings. There were plenty of kudu around ^Q^

Image

Image

We also had a number of jackal sightings during the day which is good to see. They have seemed a bit scarce to us lately, but there were a good number of healthy looking individuals around O/\

Image

Above Wayne's Valley we had a nice sighting of a secretary bird O\/

Image

Along with kudu, the other animal that seemed to be round every corner were zebra. Many years ago they used to have very small numbers but now the herds have really grown. These two drinking buddies were up at Carols Rest X#X

Image

We missed out on a decent lion sighting by a few minutes along Ngulube, but instead we were treated to some close elephant encounters. This female who not surprisingly is called 'Left Tusk' is seen quite regularly in that area

Image

And a final shot for the day was this nice family herd making their way towards the Ngulube waterhole O:V

WOW, quality photos throughout! But the zebras posed especially nicely and
so did the elephants with their ever so cute babies :-0

Jackal and secretary are fantastic too. And the kudus. And left tusk.
Hmz, that seems to make the all awesome \O \O

Popped in to Addo again today for the first time in absolutely ages :o0ps:

It was a late start after kids sport, so more there to enjoy the scenery than expect any major sightings, but it delivered quite well considering!

Fairly soon along the southern access road there was a roadblock - I'm not great on identifying the elephant in the park, but I think the guy with the big tusks might be 'Paul' - one of the bulls relocated from Kruger a while back.

Image

On Vukani loop someone was very excited to see the sea O:V

Image

Whilst others weren't so impressed

Image

It was a drinking face-off at Ngulube waterhole X#X

Image

Buffalo were in short supply today, but we found one nice bull on his own

Image

On the hillside above the main camp waterhole a couple of lion (Niklaas & Witwarm) were flat out <zz> <zz>

Image

That is until an elephant caught wind of them O** O**

Image

We've seen sleeping lion disturbed this way a few times in Addo - the elephant pick up their scent and then chase them away just for fun lol lol

Image

Image

Image

You could almost hear the frustration from the lions at having been woken from their slumber

Image

But this ellie wasn't giving up the chase easily... discretion proving to be the better part of valour for the lions \O
