There is a problem in Satara today...Famous Brands staff not paid on the 30th, for some reason, so Debonairs closed/striking and Mugg&Bean on skeleton staff...

Letaba M&B also closed...only Olifants got pay, somehow!

Owner overseas and manager on leave...

That's bad!!

Lack of organization It cannot be so difficult

And so the rot setting once again!!

Another Mugg and Bean strike in Letaba Camp in Kruger Park


Mugg and Bean restaurant once again lets clients down in Letaba Camp.

SKUKUZA – According to a news release by Lesley Nyawo, public relations assistant of the Kruger National Park (KNP), the Mugg & Bean Restaurant in Letaba Camp is currently closed due to a strike by the restaurant staff.

Kruger National Park Management is engaging with the restaurant’s management to resolve this challenge.

There were strikes at three branches of Mugg & Bean in the KNP late in July 2016.

An update will follow as and when developments occur.

“We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this strike,’ said Nyawo.

Restaurant staff might be obtained from the camps in Mopani and Olifants for Sunday’s shifts. Please phone Letaba Camp 013 735 6636 for more information.

Lowvelder approached Mr Frederic Cornet from the public relations company that manages the accounts of Famous Brand, mother company to Mugg & Bean, but no comment was forthcoming at the time of going online.

Letaba M&B paid this morning and open but with limited stock, should be OK now as delivery was happening.

Satara not paid, so still closed...

I presume that a lot of staff does not have a bank account, so they have to pay them cash

That is highly unlikely for permanent or even temporary staff, Lis! We have technology here!

I know you do but keeping a bank account costs money and if you only have your salary, it is not worth it. Might be that the employer makes it mandatory

SANParks sets up temporary restaurants in KNP

South African National Parks (SANParks) would like to inform guests of the Kruger National Park during this festive season that to lessen the risk of potential business disruption at three Mugg & Bean restaurants, i.e. Satara, Olifants and Letaba; SANParks will provide temporary food service facilities in these camps.

According to SANParks Managing Executive for Tourism Development, Marketing & Communications, Ms. Hapiloe Sello, SANParks has to put up these temporary service points as a precautionary measure after the business disruption experienced at the three Mugg & Bean restaurants in early December as a result a dispute between the operator and their employees.

Ms. Sello said, “We trust that we will soon find a lasting solution to the problem and hope that these contingency measures will ensure that the visitor experience is not compromised.” The temporary structures can be found at the day visitor areas in Satara and Olifants, whilst the structure in Letaba will be situated next to the Elephant hall.

“SANParks sincerely apologises for the inconvenience and hopes that your stay in the Park will be as memorable as always,” concluded Ms. Sello.
