Today we got an extra special sighting! Keagan Kingsley tinged this albino impala lamb this afternoon right outside Malelane camp. We don’t get sightings like these very often.

Kruger International Airport welcomes black impala to resident herd

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport welcomed a black impala lamb to its local herd. The new lamb is the first of its kind to be born within the airport’s parameters.

Impalas are one of the most common antelope found in Southern Africa but a black lamb is quite a rarity.

The black colour is a genetic mutation known as melanism. The mutation prohibits the regulation of melanin, causing an overproduction of the pigment, turning an animal’s skin or coat black.

Kruger International shared photos of the incredibly beautiful black lamb on Facebook. Check out the images below.
