I couldn't agree more, Stefan. That's totally and obviously just as unacceptable

Terrible condition of that tent. I feel they must pay you to sleep there.

Hmmmm...... well , lets be rational . How much does this really detract from one's experience there
Certainly it is not nice to see something like this , and of course , especially if you then find that the place is dirty , beds are not made up , toilet does not work , etc etc .
In such a case , it certainly is upsetting , and can affect the ambience of your stay in the tent
Now , it appears that the " tears " in the tent , and in shadecloth may have been deliberately cut ( and then repaired ) , probably by an unwanted intruder/thief .........
And obviously the damaged parts are not SO BAD that it warrants replacing the whole tent ( at a cost of ?????? R75 000 ????? R100 000 ???? ) .

So , who do you blame for the damage -- the unknown thief/intruder , or the person/worker who cleans up after you when you are out game watching , or do you blame the landlord/owner/big boss for not immediately replacing the whole tent for you ,
You know , Lower Sabie is popular to the extent that one needs to make reservations quite far in advance , and IMHO that popularity is not necessarily just due to the nice accommodations that the camp offers


I've been in worse situations than this all over the world

Ja, okie! This is baboon damage, and happens daily with the old tents, it seems?

There is a post pending, hopefully, that will explain further. It has been a big mess there for over a year, with some tents being replaced at intervals, slowly...

But no excuse for the plumbing stuff? No point in waiting for refurbishment, rather market the tent at R500 per night less and say so?

RP , so , the boons go armed with knives etc so as to make it easier to get into the tents .
I also understand the sentiment that the damage etc may make for somewhat inferior accommodation , but hey , business is business , the place is popular , especially with O/S tourists , so why not milk it for what you can get out of it Its not as if it becomes unrentable And as long as the toilet is clean , and working .......
