Mel those meerkat were in the campsite around the chalets below the offices. Lovely to see them so closeMel wrote:There is nothing better than the view of the Auob riverbed after having done the 50 odd kays on the dune where not much is happening most of the times
The meerkat colony is awesome! I think they used to live within the camp but close to the gate some years ago, but seem to have moved into the riverbed by now.
When I first saw them right in front of our riverfront chalet I messed up the photos because I was so surprised by their proximity. And I'm still mad about myself
because of that because there were two meerkats among them that were still kinda babies and certainly the smallest once I have ever seen so far

Yes we camp well Richprins.Richprins wrote:catching up, pooky!
Rather rustic at that first campsite...but you guys were well-organised, to put it mildly!
Do the laadies clean up a bit before pics are taken?
Lion roaring next to tent...must have been a massive racket1
Wonder what they were doing there...
Nice pics all round1
No cleaning up - that's how we are
The lions walked up to the shower so I guess they were looking for water. It was a massive racket and when you
are fast asleep it gives you a huge fright
The first evening someone left the rubber bathmat we were using in the shower. Next day it was gone. We found it
in the grass about 50M away in pieces

15th Sept
Springbok with the early morning sun behind them
A pair of lion having a drink at Sitsas waterhole. Neither wanted to get their feet wet when they left the waterhole.
Splash
Now his turn - but with out success
Handsome fellow
Don't forget about me
A juv. bateleur giving us a beady eye.
and a scruffy looking tawny
Near 14th borehole we came across a cheetah mum with 4 cubs, but they we walking on the ridge and we couldn't
get a good view of them all,
Mum with one of the cubs
and Mum walking on her own.
Swallow-tailed bee-eater
On the way back to camp we saw some giraffe.
and a kori bustard.
Some of us went cross to the farm stall on the Namibian side.
In the tree next to our tent starlings had a nest. Nesting material.

Ja, those lion who are scared of mud must come to Kruger a bit!

These guys don't know too much about mud or water - although KTP are having their fair share of rain this season
Thanks RP
